Established in 1999, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery opened its current space in Heddon Street in 2011. Since its move, the gallery has focused on greater representation of female artists which now accounts for 85% of the roster.
As well as presenting the first UK solo exhibitions of many major artists such as Jacqueline de Jong, Mary Kelly, Faith Ringgold and Carrie Mae Weems, it is also well known for its promotion of young artists, often presenting their first one-person exhibitions. These include Jadé Fadojutimi and Stefanie Heinze.
Museum sales over the past two years include those to MoMA, NY; Tate, London; Dallas Museum of Art; the Met, NY; Centre Pompidou, Paris; and Solomon R Guggenheim Museum of Art, NY.
