Artist's Biography
Xinyi Wu, was born in Shanghai, China.
The obvious kernel in her practice is about vulnerability and absence. The theme focuses on the fragile part of life. Her feeling is that absencespreads through life in everyday forms. And is not limited tospecial
rituals, ceremonies or memorials.
She observes scenes from everyday life and combine themwith personal
memories and experiences. By changing the state of objects intheeveryday. She gives life to them by changing their formand connectingthem to their surroundings. It gives them a fresh sense of departure, likea sofa in an empty room with the imprint and warmth of an ass.
Recent work has often used a combination of installationandphotography. She tries to catch up with how uncertainty flows inlife. And express the individual's situation of absence.
About the Solo Exhibition
Taking everyday objects as a starting point, Xinyi tries to construct a kind of Uncanny in the real world. Expressing that ‘absence’ is spreadinginlife in a daily form and will continue.
She handles objects in the picture and expresses her feelings inthematerial.
She combines the state of everyday objects to the attributes of
unfamiliar places. In the photographs she transforms the real worldintoa container for emotions. The painting series includes an explorationof
mixed media and wood. The work swollen adds wood paint tooil
painting on canvas. It blurring the message of the original imageandgiving it a heavy and muddy texture.
As you pass through these works, you look inward. And feel howuncertainty flows through an individual's life.
