Artist's Biography
Hyunjun Cho (Jun) is an artist based in London and Seoul.
He completed a Fine Art BA (Hons) in Goldsmiths, University of London and studied design before his bachelor's degree. Based on the artist's own disease and organic form idiosyncratic to the human body,
the work combines with technology to generate sculpture and installation art that creates the experience of a futuristic dystopia. By weaving the organic/inorganic material and silhouettes, the work aims
to create a state in which heterogeneous beings confront and coexist.

Hyunjun Cho's artistic journey has been shaped by the inner world of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and Vestibular Neuritis, conditions that thrust him into a surreal realm of disorientation
and imbalance. In a world where these invisible inner ear maladies distorted his perception and left him feeling like an outsider, he embarked on a creative quest to bridge the gap between his unique
experience and the understanding of those around him.
Through his art, Hyunjun seeks to convey the paradoxical nature of this journey, where the internal chaos clashes with the external world's stability. His sculptures, born from the organic contours of his
own ear and semicircular canal, capture the twisted and dizzying vision that became his reality. Each piece reflects the intricate emotions that arose from living within a body at odds with itself.
In his show, he presented 2005 sculptures, featuring five central sculptures and an army of 2000 replicated ear canal sculptures, complemented by a poignant sound work. These creations serve as a portal
into Hyunjun's world, a foreign world within the same world as everyone else but with a vastly different perception. They invite viewers to step into the disorienting landscapes of his inner struggles,
collapse of natural and unnatural, and manifest a phenomenon which is the journey of ‘searching singularity’.
Hyunjun's art aims to transform the abstract into the tangible, making the intangible into visualization, and allowing the unseen to be seen. Through the fusion of form, emotion, and experience, he
invites others to contemplate the paradox of living in a world where the inner and outer realities collide, offering a glimpse into the surreal and heterogeneous tapestry of existence.
