About the Solo Exhibition
Decue grew up in Shenzhen, China, and have lived in the US since 2012.
Her multi-city lifestyle and cultural exchange experience provide her with rich creative inspiration.
Decue's daily hobby is collecting images of different cities and recording them in her "city diary."
This exhibit showcases her work from 2015 to the present with traveling through other cities.
Her illustration style takes a lot of inspiration from my Chinese roots background, combining different cultural exchange experiences, and landed in the city that significantly evolved her style - Los Angles.
When Decue lived in LA, she got so inspired by the California desert plants, her neighborhood’s architecture style, and the most beautiful sunset she has ever experienced.
Her illustrations’ color palette is consistently saturated orange, salmon pink, red, and warm tone. They just look like the California sunset!
These inspired Decue's color palette and the form that she illustrate - the mid-century era: abstract and geometric shapes, limited palettes, and the offset texture of screen- printing.
Decue is also an avid collector of all things fashionable. As someone who is inspired by many independent designers’ works, her particular style focuses on the combination of illustration and fashion.
She started as a fashion illustrator, which has always been her passionate figure to draw.
She specifically discovered more talented contemporary fashion designers in China and was fascinated by the new designs combining the east and the west aesthetics.
