Reflecting on my journey, I realize that art has always been more than a hobby for me; it has profoundly transformed my life. Art is not a gentle pastime but a powerful force that challenges you deeply. If you're going to be an artist, you must confront and understand the beast within, for true artists never let that beast hibernate.

Overcoming life's challenges initially inspired me to become an artist; it felt intrinsic, as if art flowed through my veins. I felt a part of my soul was missing until I found myself expressing the common pain of humanity through my work. Art became my voice, allowing me to communicate my deepest thoughts and emotions.

My earliest memory of creating art was a daunting yet exhilarating experience. Standing before a blank canvas, I felt as though I was floating on a vibrant white surface. In that moment, I abandoned all the techniques I had learned and instead delved into my subconscious. Each stroke and color wove a unique tale, and every painting became a story waiting to be told.

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my artistic journey is ensuring that viewers understand the narratives behind my forms and colors. I strive to depict my concerns through my subconscious and hope that others can see and feel the stories I tell. Overcoming these challenges required relentless hard work and unwavering belief in the process. Sometimes, you have no choice but to let the process drive progress. Moving forward often means surviving the toughest moments.

A proud milestone in my career was being selected for the 5th London Art Biennale in 2021. Another significant achievement was in 2020, when one of my works was included in the CICA Museum's collection in South Korea after participating in the "Form 2020" exhibition. These successes propelled me forward and reminded me of my identity and purpose. Artists deserve to be seen, and even a vast collection of paintings must be showcased to have an impact.

Currently, my inspiration comes from everyday encounters and experiences—meeting people, watching movies, or simply walking down the street. My mind constantly fills with contemporary themes depicting human concerns in a surrealistic manner. To aspiring artists, I offer this advice: to appreciate art, you must survive its challenges.

Moving to New York represents a significant level up for me. I am now preparing a new collection of my paintings in my own studio, which will soon be showcased in Chelsea. This next step in my journey is both exciting and inspiring, and I look forward to sharing my work with a broader audience.

About Sahar Alizadeh

Sahar Alizadeh, born in June 1995, is an accomplished artist known for her unique focus on shadows as a primary subject in her work. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture in Tehran, Iran. Alizadeh's work explores the two-dimensional and monochromatic nature of shadows, juxtaposing them with the vibrant three-dimensional world they represent. Her art delves into themes of perception, reality, and the subconscious, often creating surrealistic spaces where the line between object and shadow blurs. She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the globe, including in Iran, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Notably, her work was included in the permanent collection of the CICA Museum in South Korea following her participation in the "Form 2020" exhibition.
